Shortly after 7 PM on Wednesday evening April 23, A passerby contacted Berks County 911 and reported black smoke issuing from a small commercial occupancy at the intersection of Shillington Rd and Princeton Av in the Lincoln Park section of Spring Township. Accordingly, TSFR, along with our mutual aid partners from Western Berks, Wyomissing, Cumru Twp, Shillington, Kenhorst, Mohnton, West Reading and Western Berks EMS, were alerted and responded.

TSFR Rescue Engine 85 arrived first and observed smoke showing from the front and sides of the building, a small wood frame structure. E85 obtained its own water supply at a hydrant across the street and stretched an attack line to the front of the occupancy. Entry was forced and upon searching the interior, personnel located a fire burning in the cockloft. The area was opened and water applied to control the fire.

Personnel from the mutual aid companies assisted with venting and overhauling the fire area. A back up hose line was also stretched but not charged. TSFR and mutual aid Fire Police shut down Shillington Road during the operation.
