On Friday January 3 just before 6 PM, TSFR Engine and Tanker 85 along with our mutual aid partners from Wyomissing (79), Adamstown (LN1-1), Reinholds LN(18-1), Western Berks FD (18), Cumru Twp (42), Reamstown (LN17-1), Denver (LN-13 RIT), and Western Berks EMS Medic M6511, were dispatched to the 900 block of Fritztown Road in southern Spring Twp for a possible structure fire. The fire was reported to be smoke coming from a garage in the rear of the address. Everyone was reported to be out of the residence.
E85 arrived and Captain 85 provided a report of light smoke and an odor inside the garage and the crew was investigating. DC 85 arrived and was advised by of a smoke condition in the garage due to either a malfunctioning light ballast and/or a heater. With this DC85 reduced the assignment to E85, L79, L18 and TN42, and all other companies could recall. Crews continued the investigation and isolated the issue to a heater unit. Power was secured to the appliance and tagged and locked out. Units were made available as tasks were completed and equipment was secured.
