In an effort to improve Fire, Rescue and QRS coverage to the residents, visitors, and businesses of the Township of Spring, the Township Board of Supervisors recently approved the hiring of 4 additional Career Firefighter/EMT’s.
With the addition of the 4 Firefighter/EMT’s, we will now be able to staff each of our 4 platoons with 4 career personnel which includes a Captain and 3 Firefighter/EMT’s on each platoon. Our 4 platoons provide FULL TIME coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The additional staffing to each platoon helps us provide a better service to the community and helps our staff work in a safer environment with more personnel on scene during the initial fire attack.
The additional staff will now bring the TSFRS to within daily staffing strengths recommended by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standard 1710 for the Deployment of Fire Department resources for the type of demand zone the department covers, and increase the frequency of meeting the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) “two in; two out “rule for interior structural firefighting.
Starting today, February 28th at 0800 we started our new staffing level. Here are the new personnel and their platoon assignments.
A Platoon: Matthew Lynch - 20 years of experience
B Platoon: Andrew Shearer - 20 years of experience
C Platoon: Seth Etchberger - 8 years of experience
D Platoon: Robert Mease - 20 years of experience
Welcome to the TSFRS and we wish you all a long and healthy career!
Thank you to the Township of Spring Board of Supervisors and the residents for your support! |
