On Monday afternoon March 10, Rescue 85 was dispatched to Lamm Road in North Heidelberg Township to assist Bernville Station 29 as part of the 2nd alarm assignment for a structure fire involving a large single family dwelling. Due to their being out of quarters at the time Rescue Engine 85 responded in place of the Rescue. Shortly thereafter Tanker 85 was special-called as well.
RE85 arrived on location, staged the apparatus on the roadway and the crew reported to the operation’s manpower pool ready for work. From the manpower pool, RE85 members were assigned to conduct fire attack operations on the 2nd floor of the dwelling. Accordingly, personnel extinguished and overhauled the fire on the 2nd floor. When their tasks were completed, they reported to rehab. and stood fast until released by Command.
Tanker 85 responded and on arrival immediately went into staging with several other tankers. From there, they were assigned to provide supplemental water supply to Womelsdorf Tanker 47 which was serving several engines. Tanker 85 emptied its 1700-gallon tank. The unit was then released by Command after being on location for over an hour. |
