An automatic fire alarm was triggered by a small overheat condition in a food appliance at a restaurant in the Broadcasting Square complex located in the northern end of Spring Township on Monday evening May 19. Am automatic alarm assignment of TSFRS Engine 85, Wyomissing Ladder 79 and Western Berks FD Engine 18-2 responded.
Crews arrived and confirmed that the smoke was caused by overheated food in a cooking appliance and that there was no fire. Personnel established ventilation to remove the minor smoke condition and assisted management in resetting the alarm. The restaurant remained closed for the balance of the evening.
