June 23, 2025
It was a sweltering 95F morning on Monday June 23 when TSFR Rescue 85 was dispatched to eastbound Rte 422 just past the US 222 split in Wyomissing Boro to assist Wyomissing FD Station 79 on a reported vehicle crash with injuries involving a dump truck with a rollover. While responding County Communications reported that there were further reports of multiple vehicles and entrapment. R85 arrived on location after E79, set up blocking and personnel reported to the scene to assist. E79 personnel were able to assist one patient under his own power from a rolled over vehicle via a Little Giant ladder. Fortunately, there were no additional entrapped occupants and R85 was released by 79 Command after assisting with hazard control.
After clearing from this call, R85 was routed to another accident with injuries near to the original incident. R85 arrived to find a two-car crash with one possible injury. Members stood by until the arrival of EMS and provided on scene assistance until released by police.
TSFRS Fire Police also responded to provide a safe highway workplace for responders and to establish emergency management of the resultant traffic snarl along this major artery. Fire Police personnel from multiple companies remained on location in the over 100F heat index conditions until the vehicles were removed and police opened the roadway.
