| Recently Spring Township PD and Wilson Schools issued warnings to E bike users about traffic and operating safety associated with these and other personal conveyances.
We at TSFRS would like to echo those concerns and also add one of our own. The charging of E bikes and any other transport means or appliance that uses lithium-ion batteries can present some serious fire safety issues.
Please remember that these items should be charged while attended and not overnight. Also, they should not be charged inside a residential living area, bedroom or other space that could prevent occupants from evacuating in a very timely fashion should the battery go into runaway or fire condition. The smoke produced during these events is made of some VERY toxic byproducts and the heat released will cause any nearby combustible material to burst into flame in short order.
