Our Monday night training session on July 27 was spent as guests of our neighbors at the Western Berks FD Station 1 (Wernersville), where we were provided with information on automatic sprinkler systems by representatives of Commonwealth Fire Protection. CFP staff set up their educational trailer which is fitted with several sprinkler systems installed to present real-world arrangements of components and piping. The purpose and operation of the various components were described so that fire personnel would be better prepared to operate in locations protected by them.
Systems include wet pipe, dry pipe, and pre-action sprinkler systems, along with various configurations of alarm and monitoring hardware.
