| Rescue 85 was dispatched to s shopping center on Lancaster Ave to assist Cumru Twp FD Station 42 on the afternoon of September 3, on vehicle crash with structural impact. R85 responded and was assigned to stabilize a dangling section of roof over a pedestrian walkway. On arrival the company used rescue struts and a 4x4 wooden beam to temporarily support and secure the end of the roof over the sidewalk.
Once the operation was completed, R85 was released by DC42 and placed available. The property owner committed to returning the equipment utilized once the roof was stabilized by a contractor.
It was a unique opportunity to work with equipment and skills that we possess but rarely require. However, it confirms the need to have both. |
